Poor, poor things. Dating guys in creative fields who live in Brooklyn is such a drag because they can't keep up with your $300 dinner checks and they feel so threatened by all the money you waste when they just scrape by. Gosh, how put out these ladies must feel. Where, oh where are their male equals? Oh, right.

Good thing the Duane Reade tissue aisle is affordable to everyone.

That's funny. I hate the way those articles are written, cause its actually a very interesting cultural phenomenon. Dynamics are indeed changing and men and women don't know how to handle it. The the traditional expectations in the face of modern role reversal, the equation of worth with money and "providing' , providing equalling monetary providing of course, is compelling.
I have earned more than my husband for several years now and during the first few years it was very awkward for both of us. I"m glad we were married when the change occurred and it was "our" money. Luckily we are able to talk about the impact it has on us, on many levels and examine what old beliefs and dynamics we want to keep and what doesn't work.
These girls were made to look really vapid and self serving.
But the article just makes the situation sound so shallow.
Sad.
